DONATING 1% TO THE PLANET
Avocado proudly donates 1% of mattress revenues to verified environmental nonprofits through our commitment to 1% For the Planet. Through its global network, this essential organization uses collective action to tackle our most pressing environmental issues by challenging people and businesses to donate 1% of their sales or salaries to environmental causes.
“At Avocado, our mission is to be a force for good,” says Christine Carpio, Avocado’s Senior Manager of Engagement and Social Responsibility. “Our partnership with 1% For the Planet means we’re channeling our donations directly to the vetted nonprofits in their network who are fighting for a better world every single day.”
Avocado has donated millions of dollars to more than 45 nonprofit organizations like Protect Our Winters, Women’s Earth Alliance, Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, and Re:Wild.

In April 2020, 1% for the Planet honored Avocado with its inaugural Pinnacle Award. The distinction recognizes a business that raises the bar for environmental responsibility and goes above and beyond its commitment to the organization. And due to our leadership on climate, Avocado was named a recipient of the Trailblazer Award at the 2023 Net Zero Conference. Each year, the Trailblazer Awards celebrate leaders who are working to build a net zero future. Awardees include changemakers who are making an impact in the areas of climate, carbon, equity, ESG, resilience, net zero, and more.

Only 3% of philanthropic giving goes toward environmental initiatives. But 1% for the Planet makes it possible for businesses and individuals to connect with more than 5,000 environmental organizations — from those supporting sustainable food systems, water quality, and land rights for Indigenous communities to those fighting climate change, toxic dumping in our oceans, and air pollution — to invest in the causes they feel strongly about. Since its inception, members have donated nearly $300 million in funds to organizations tackling our most pressing environmental issues.
