We love our dogs. And we believe that if we aren’t okay with nasty toxins or synthetic materials for ourselves, why should we be okay with settling for anything less for our best four-legged friends? Like everything else we do, we don’t cut corners with our Dog Frame. It’s handcrafted in our Los Angeles shop from reclaimed wood and Douglas fir, and assembled with responsible materials. The bed frame is beautiful and durable. It’s the kingly place your favorite pet deserves to get their rest.
SOLID, DURABLE WOOD
We handcraft our Dog Bed Frame from solid, heavy, durable wood in our FSC®-certified (C156138) Los Angeles woodshop.
STUNNING RECLAIMED TIMBER
We handcraft the Dog Bed Frame with pure, beautiful reclaimed wood and Douglas fir slats. Reclaimed wood creates fewer watershed toxins and less waste, because it avoids many of the processes new lumber goes through, such as tree harvesting, transporting, drying, and milling, all of which use energy. Reclaimed wood is also more durable and less prone to warping and splitting, compared to newly cut and dried lumber. The result is an heirloom-quality piece of furniture that’s consistent with our broader company values.
CRAFTED FROM UPCYCLED WOOD
To make our Dog Bed Frame, we harness the bits and pieces leftover from handcrafting our other furniture. Because no trees are cut down or transported to a mill, wood waste from building is diverted from landfills. This also reduces emissions associated with the logging, transport, and processing of new wood while helping to safeguard our natural resources. The use of reclaimed wood can earn points toward the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program — a nationally recognized rating system for sustainable building by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Shipping & Delivery

Our Dog Bed Frame is handcrafted in our FSC®-certified (C156318) facility in Los Angeles. The bed frame ships via FedEx from our woodshop. If you also purchased one of our dog bed mattresses and/or pillows, it may ship separately.

Solid Wood Construction
-
Reclaimed (upcycled) solid vintage wood — much of it from old-growth Douglas fir ecosystems in Western North America — is sourced locally from the greater Los Angeles area, where it has been seasoned for decades. Wood slats (1.5 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide, also made from solid Pine wood) are sanded but left unfinished, and placed 3 inches apart along the rails. Wood that has been previously chemically treated is never used. Our wood will exhibit the character of vintage wood, including smoothed nail holes, natural patina, fine cracks, and other weathering. No tools are required for assembly.

ECOS Stains

We use an ECOS® wood stain thta conforms to CDPH 01350 (VOC emissions test taken at 11, 12, & 14 days for classroom and office use), as well ASTMD-4236, specifically concerning oral toxicity, skin irritation, and respiratory effects.

Titebond Glues

Our assembly utilizes Titebond® wood glues. They meet the requirements of ASTMD-4236 for safe use with arts and crafts and have both been approved for indirect food contact.

Return Policy & Warranty

Furniture cannot be returned, except when there are defects in workmanship, which are covered by a 3-year warranty. Keep in mind that reclaimed wood products will feature blemishes, holes, or other scars in the wood as testimony to its age, character, and singular beauty. Please note that reclaimed wood has inherent color variations. If you purchased a reclaimed wood product in the past, it is unlikely to be an exact match of a newer item. That said, all reclaimed wood furniture on the same order will match.
